Biryani masala

Biryani with chicken, I love biryani so much, I wish I could eat it every day. This was the first time putting the rice on top of the chicken like that. I still need some practise on this dish and decorating it really nice and so. Babysteps. This kind of cooking is soooo far away from my finnish dishes. Basically I just follow the instructions on the Biryani Masala spice package. Well, kind of. I looked on youtube also.

I use half the package, because I don't make that big portions at a time. With that beeing said, I ate this for three days in a row!

500g meat/chicken/turkey
500g rice
1/2 pack of Biryani Masala
1 big onion
(5 potatoes)
1/2 cup sour youhurt
2 cups of milk
1 tablespoon sugar
a Little bit of raisins and plums
2 teaspoons of rosewater

So put oil in a pan and add the chopped onions, let them fry untill they get brown and mix them (1/3) of the onions with a little bit of sugar. Put aside. Add meat, yoghurt, Masala Biryani Spices, and milk, to the rest of the onions. Let it fry for 10-15 minutes on medium flame. Peel potatoes and cut them in slices. Fry them in oil. Wash the rice. Cook the rice. Here it gets tricky. I feel like there are so many different ways to make biryani, and all of them are right I guess. I think it's best I put up a Youtube video of the closest version of how I made it.

On the box of  Biryani it says " heat 5 tablespoons of oil in a vessel and add rice, let fry for 10-15 minutes on medium flame" and then "add 1 cup of milk and 1 liter of water" and then "when water dries up mix meat with rice and put fried onion, raisins, plum and rosewater. "cover the vessel and let cook on low for 25-30 minutes. Shake the vessel 2-3 times. "
